Hello friends! While Twizy is currently closed for tours, we are open for business and we are hard at work behind the scenes developing new products and improving our services. One of which is bringing you virtual tours that might inspire you to book your next zip around London when our (car) doors reopen.

So, if you fancy a virtual change of scenery, keep reading!

A little while back we teamed up with local video production company, Sugarsweet Productions, to take you with us to North London. Hitch a ride with us as we whizz through some of the fabulous streets of Hampstead, East Finchley and Muswell Hill, before reaching our final destination at Alexandra Palace.  Watch our new video here!

Check out some of the tour highlights below: ⬇️

🚗 We begin our tour at the infamous La Gaffe Restaurant in Hampstead, with a wave from its owner, Lorenzo Stella. Located on Heath Street, it’s been in the area since 1962. Despite being open just under 60 years, the restaurant is just as popular with locals today as it always was, and still serves up delicious traditional Italian dishes.

🚗 Next, join us as we cruise past another iconic restaurant and hotel, The Spaniards Inn. Built in 1585 as a tollgate and aptly named after the Spanish Ambassador to James I, the iconic establishment is also rumoured to be the birthplace of notorious highwayman, Dick Turpin!

🚗 Next stop: East Finchley. A leafy neighbourhood filled with independent shops; this is definitely an area worth spending some time in. If your Manolos are in need of some TLC, we recommend stopping at Kokos, a place where your beautiful shoes can be lovingly restored.

You’ll also spy us breezing past other local delights including:

The New York style Italian Delicatessen – Amici Deli. Did you know ‘amici’ means ‘friends’, in Italian? Well, this is one place you can certainly enjoy with your besties!

And not forgetting The Bald Faced Stag Pub. The pub is renowned for their Sunday Roasts – they’re darn delicious! But remember, only non-alcoholic refreshments for you Twizlers!

🚗 Breezing through Fortis Green we find ourselves at Muswell Hill, which is where you will find Bonafide Studios – and the lovely Brian Bogdanovic. A world famous recording studio, their extensive client list includes Paloma Faith, Iron Maiden, Olly Murs, Kylie Minogue and many more! Brian couldn’t resist a little spin in our Twizys, and let’s be honest, who can blame him?

🚗 No visit to Muswell Hill would be complete without a pit-stop at Toffs, the award-winning fish and chip shop! A great place to recharge batteries (for you, not the car!), and since owner Costas Georgiou (pictured, right) took over the popular restaurant, it has gone from strength to strength. Toff’s now grills 14st of fish and 15 sacks of potatoes a day; that’s nearly 2 Twizys full!

🚗 Our last stop takes us to the iconic Alexandra Palace. Better known by its nickname, ‘Ally Pally’, it opened its doors in 1863 and was an instant success, but the original building was sadly destroyed by fire a mere sixteen days later.

A redesigned palace was built on the same site within two years, opening on 1st May 1875. Boasting a concert hall, theatre, circus, racetrack, boating lake, extensive dining and catering options, Alexandra Palace and its surrounding park hosted the latest entertainment on a grand scale.

In 1914 the palace took on a very different purpose, and was used to shelter refugees from countries such as Belgium and the Netherlands fleeing World War I.

Today, Alexandra Palace is home to a whole heap of different activities, including Go Ape, a skatepark, garden centre, boating lake, and many more. For those looking for something more seasonal, the palace also hosts regular music concerts, live theatre and even ice hockey games.

Definitely a must-visit, and one of the highlights of our tour!
